Early in the 70's when I was
ten years old...my cousin, Ruthanna, and I, started making plans about life, our
apartments, shops and husbands. We would spend hours in our clubhouse making things out of
leaves and sticks or anything else we could find. By the 6th grade, I'd made my
first patchwork quilt, thanks to the help of my mom and Aunts Virginia, Kathleen, Francie,
and Susie. My family gave me gifts of their talents and creativity. With
their help and love, I made all kinds of goodies, from doll clothes, to my own
clothes. |

Then after high school, I
went to college and with a practical mindset decided that the computer industry would be
good profession for me. This is where I met my best friend, Judy, who still is
an inspiration and a part of my life and shop. I worked for 10 years in business
technology, all the while talking, planning and saving for the shop. But this wasn't
all a waste of time, for it was here I met and fell in love with my husband, Ed. We
were an instant match and shared many of the same dreams. So, we put our hearts and
energy together, bought a home in Lambertville, NJ, and started the "One Stitch at a
Time Quilt Shop"! |
| And so the story went, Ed and
I enjoying each other's company and the excitement of making shop ownership work!
Then our family came along; Spencer Edward on January 21st, 2000, and Grace
Elizabeth on July 26th, 2003. We feel blessed that these children are a part of our
lives. Though kids are a lot of work, as anyone whose parented knows, the pleasure
we derive in their happiness is immeasurably worth it! |
